I am interested in the sensory, physical and metaphysical qualities of time and light.
To this end I have been building my own cameras and camera obscuras. Many of these have multiple apertures. This allows me to capture moments in time from multiple perspectives.
The photographs that I have taken with my cameras are made up of hundreds of images. While each of these images is evidence of a unique understanding of events, the moment portrayed over the whole photograph is shared by all.
I feel that this replication with slight variations brings photography closer to how we as humans experience events in our lives. While we may live through a given moment with any number people, how we recount our tale depends upon both our view point as well as our viewing point. Even if we are the sole witness, our own renditions will undergo several incarnations in the retelling.
